Yoga Therapy

Yoga Therapy

Yoga therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of Yoga. (International Association of Yoga Therapists)

Yoga therapy is a whole-body, whole-person approach. The first step is a thorough intake session to review your health history, relevant conditions, injuries or symptoms, lifestyle, and goals. This will include verbal and written questionnaires, as well as a physical structural assessment. From there, we’ll work together to develop a plan of care.

Each session is tailored to your needs and goals. We may use yoga postures and movement, breathwork, mindfulness and meditation, relaxation, and lifestyle recommendations to support your wellness objectives. You may also receive notes, sequences, videos, or recordings to continue the practice between our sessions.

Yoga therapy is used as a complement to medical care and can help with a wide range of conditions, including

  • Pain, such as low-back pain, arthritis, chronic pain

  • Neurological issues, including traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and multiple sclerosis (MS)

  • Mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, insomnia, and substance use disorders

  • Major illnesses like cancer or heart disease

  • Healthy aging and osteoporosis

  • Joint health and post-surgery

  • Or just overall health and wellbeing
